The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LaRue shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rivera's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Rivera stalling away here and it's allowed LaRue to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
LaRue is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rivera has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

LaRue can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rivera is looking to escape.
Rivera wants to control but LaRue is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rivera looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? LaRue is fending him off so far but Rivera persists. Nope, LaRue circles away and we're back to standing.

Rivera takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

In his post fight interview, Hector LaRue started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
