The crowd seem to be enjoying Boges's choice of entrance music: welcome to the jungle. The key to victory for Michael Griffin has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mugsy Boges!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boges moves out of range as Griffin strikes.
Griffin swings widly with a right hand

and Boges moves into the clinch.
A short uppercut from Griffin.
Griffin gets underhooks to prevent Boges's takedown attempt.
Boges wants to break the clinch but can't.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Boges just misses with a elbow thrown towards Griffin's brow.
Griffin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Boges's elbow.
Griffin pushes Boges back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A hook to the body from Griffin.
Boges looking to slow down the pace here.
Griffin lands a shoulder strike.
Griffin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Boges has Griffin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Griffin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

With the fighters up against the cage, Boges throws an elbow but misses.

Griffin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Boges has him pressed against the cage.
Boges misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Griffin.
Boges wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Griffin's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Griffin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Boges backwards.

Griffin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Griffin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Boges.
Boges will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Michael Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mugsy Boges.
Boges will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Boges looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boges showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Griffin.

Griffin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boges's hands.


It looks like Mugsy Boges has been cut.
Griffin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Griffin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Boges's head.
Michael Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griffin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Boges takes a jab right on the kisser.


Boges is rocked!
Griffin is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Boges flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Boges is out cold! Griffin holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Griffin!
