PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin Joyce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Colin Joyce told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fury feints and as Joyce raises his hands in defense, Fury changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fury trying to control the position from guard on top but Joyce is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fury postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Joyce is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fury, into his guard.
Fury is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Joyce gets to his feet. Fury looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Joyce has Fury up against the cage in a clinch.
Fury really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Joyce wants to stall.

Fury escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Joyce clinches.
Joyce is pushing Fury up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Joyce is looking to control Fury's arms but Fury gets an underhook and turns him. Now Joyce has his back to the cage.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Colin Joyce.
Joyce throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fury throws a sloppy head kick and Joyce moves out of range easily.

Joyce darts in and clinches Fury up against the cage.

That was a close round but I would say that Bryan Fury will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Fury throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Joyce was covering up waiting for the punch and Fury finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fury drops back, looking for a kneebar! Joyce looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Joyce looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Joyce!

Joyce stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Fury rushes Joyce and presses him up against the cage.

Fury successfully pulls guard.

Fury looking for a guillotine here but Joyce defends easily.

Joyce gets to his feet. Fury looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Fury throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Joyce tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fury is in Joyce's guard.
Joyce is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fury passes Joyce's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Joyce is staying active underneath Fury, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Fury is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Fury wants to free his trapped foot but Joyce is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Fury is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Fury drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fury wants to control from the top but Joyce keeps moving.

Fury stands up and waves to Joyce to follow him.

Joyce gets caught napping as Fury dives in and scores a takedown. Joyce manages to retain guard.

Joyce pushes Fury off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Joyce pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Joyce tries to clinch but Fury is having none of it.

Fury shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Joyce napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fury laying and praying for a moment but Joyce takes advantage and regains half guard.
Bryan Fury overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fury works his foot free and advances to mount.

Fury goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Joyce turns into him and now he's in Fury's guard.
Fury wants to stand and escape but Joyce is having none of it.

Fury tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fury seems keen to control Joyce's posture.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bryan Fury just wasn't active enough.

Bryan Fury showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fury, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
