PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Jaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chico Lockdown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaffer comes to the cage accompanied by DubRaider- Starry Eyes. On his way into the cage it seems that James Jaffer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily James Jaffer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Jaffer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chico Lockdown!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lockdown walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jaffer checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jaffer.
Lockdown avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lockdown shoots in and drives through. Jaffer sprawls well.
Jaffer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A nice leg kick lands there from Jaffer.
Jaffer stuffs the takedown attempt from Lockdown. Lockdown gets slowly back to his feet.
Jaffer tried to score with a low kick but Lockdown checks it.
Jaffer misses with a wild body shot.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jaffer.

Jaffer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lockdown.
Jaffer shoots in but no luck this time.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Jaffer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jaffer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lockdown is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jaffer is controlling him.

Jaffer throws an elbow that misses. Lockdown uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jaffer's guard. Nice move by Lockdown!

Lockdown wants to work for an arm triangle but Jaffer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Lockdown is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jaffer defends it well.
Lockdown is looking to advance position but Jaffer won't allow it.

Lockdown is trying to control the action in half guard but Jaffer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lockdown tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jaffer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jaffer is looking to improve his position.

Lockdown is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jaffer is just riding it out for now. Lockdown eventually gives up the hold.

Jaffer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lockdown to the ground. Jaffer is now in Lockdown's guard.

We're going to have a standup here because James Jaffer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
No luck for Jaffer with that takedown attempt.

Jaffer is looking to work some ground and pound but Lockdown has wrist control.

Lockdown is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jaffer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lockdown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jaffer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Jaffer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jaffer is nestled in close to Lockdown, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Lockdown looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jaffer is fending him off so far but Lockdown persists. Nope, Jaffer circles away and we're back to standing.
Jaffer slaps away a takedown attempt from Lockdown, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jaffer ducks under a wild hook from Lockdown.
Lockdown shoots for a takedown but Jaffer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
James Jaffer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chico Lockdown.

Lockdown shoots for a double leg takedown but Jaffer sprawls well. He's pushed Lockdown's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lockdown swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Jaffer swings for the body but Lockdown moves out of range.
Good work by Lockdown as he checks the leg kick.
Jaffer shoots in but no luck this time.

Jaffer throws a low kick but it's checked well by Lockdown.
Jaffer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lockdown tries to avoid it but Jaffer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lockdown to the ground. Lockdown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lockdown takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Jaffer leaves Lockdown with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lockdown throws a hook but Jaffer avoids it easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaffer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jaffer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lockdown!

Jaffer cracks Lockdown with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jaffer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lockdown is in a horrible position here. Jaffer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Lockdown tries to reverse the position but Jaffer maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lockdown sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Jaffer.
Well Jaffer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
