PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Mercy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chance Taken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Mercy finds it's way through Taken's defenses.
A choreographed right hand from Mercy misses the target.
Mercy waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Taken.
Mercy tries to clinch but Taken moves out of range.
Mercy looks for a takedown but Taken sprawls well.
Taken lands a front kick.

Taken clinches.
Mercy misses with a hook from the clinch.
Taken prevents a takedown attempt there.
Mercy tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Taken just stands there and leans against the cage.

Taken has Mercy pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Taken pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mercy tumbling to the mat - Taken dives into Mercy's guard.

Taken tries to stand and escape but Mercy is controlling the position.
Mercy is trying to maintain the position but Taken is very close to passing his half guard.

Taken is trying to work for a kimura but Mercy is defending well.
Mercy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mercy striking off his back but it's not causing Taken any problems.

Mercy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Taken trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Taken working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Taken passes Mercy's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mercy is refusing to be controlled, as Taken sits in half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Taken is trying to work for a kimura but Mercy is defending well.
Taken seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mercy is in trouble now - Taken has advanced to mount!

Taken is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mercy can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Mercy looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Taken tries to keep control of the position but Mercy is staying busy.
Mercy tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Taken working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Mercy is in all sorts of trouble here.

Taken landing strikes from the mount.
Mercy tries to hold on but Taken pushes him away.
Taken prevents Mercy from getting the reversal.
Taken looking to control but Mercy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Mercy defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Taken.
Mercy tries to lock up and control but Taken gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Mercy is looking to improve his position but Taken isn't that keen on the idea.

Taken is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mercy is surviving well by controlling Taken's body position as best he can.
Mercy regains half guard.
Mercy is pressing down on Taken's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mercy has his foot on Taken's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Taken works his way back into a safe position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mercy throws a nice looking combination but Taken bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mercy won't allow Taken to sweep him here.

Mercy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mercy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Taken lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mercy!
Taken can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mercy is looking to escape.

Taken looking for a guillotine from mount but Mercy is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Taken goes for an armbar but Mercy turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mercy.
Mercy trying to control but Taken is working from the bottom.
Mercy wants to pass the guard but Taken is keeping the position.

Taken working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mercy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Taken is tightening it up a little... Mercy has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mercy reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mercy taps out! nice BJJ there by Taken!
