PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elyas Pical (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller comes into the arena with Don't Worry, Be Happy! blaring out of the sound system. Pical is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Florida feat Nelly Furtado- Jump. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Elyas Pical!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller rushes Pical and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Pical's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Miller cracks a nice hook into Pical's ribs.
Pical takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Pical takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Miller throws a head kick but Pical moves out of range.
Miller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miller moves out of range as Pical throws a body kick.
Pical lands a jab to Miller's midsection.
Pical is looking to clinch.
Miller scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pical doesn't seem bothered though.

Pical tries to keep at a distance but Miller has taken the fight into the clinch.

Miller manages to break the clinch.
Good shot there by Miller.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A solid leg kick lands there for Miller.
A combination from Pical does no damage.
Miller darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Pical takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A good leg kick by Miller.
Miller swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pical.
A slapping body kick lands there for Miller.
Miller thuds a left hand into Pical's body.
Pical looks gassed!
Miller lands with a slapping head kick.
Miller buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Elyas Pical is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A head kick misses from Miller.
Miller connects with an inside leg kick.
Miller fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pical.
Miller throws a nice inside leg kick.

Miller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Miller is chipping away with strikes.
Miller content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Pical takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pical taking punishment in the form of punches.

Miller is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Pical looks calm but he's in trouble here. Miller gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Pical is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Miller lets go of the hold and Pical can pop his arm back in it's socket.

In his post fight interview, Hugo Miller started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
