The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spartan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Perkins quickly recovers to half guard.
Spartan throws a strike but Perkins avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Perkins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Spartan wants to stand and escape but instead Perkins has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Spartan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perkins would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spartan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Spartan has an active guard here but Perkins has managed to pass into half guard.

Perkins decides to return to a standing position.
Perkins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Perkins has control of Spartan's left arm, preventing Spartan from doing any damage.
Perkins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Spartan's guard.
Spartan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Perkins is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Spartan is sitting in close to Perkins's body. Perkins has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Spartan is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Spartan is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Perkins.
