Stackhouse comes to the cage accompanied by Every Time I Die - Roman Holiday. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Smith!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith closes the distance looking to clinch
and Stackhouse counters with a straight right hand.
Stackhouse shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Stackhouse counters with a nice uppercut.
Smith wants to clinch but Stackhouse slips to the side
and Stackhouse counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smith thinking.
Stackhouse misses with an uppercut.
Smith moves to clinch but Stackhouse breaks away
and Stackhouse counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Smith closes the distance looking to clinch
and Stackhouse counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Smith wants to clinch but Stackhouse slips to the side
and Stackhouse makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Stackhouse counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Smith tries to clinch but Stackhouse moves away
and Stackhouse counters with a straight right hand.
Stackhouse lands a right hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stackhouse throws a shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith closes the distance looking to clinch
and Stackhouse counters with a straight right hand.
Stackhouse looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Stackhouse thows a body shot but no joy.
Stackhouse throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stackhouse fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.
Smith closes the distance but Stackhouse moves to the side
and Stackhouse counters with a straight right hand.
Smith tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Stackhouse counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Stackhouse fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smith looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Stackhouse is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Stackhouse counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Stackhouse works his way into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stackhouse grinds an elbow into Smith's temple.
Stackhouse in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Stackhouse has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Smith!
Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Stackhouse controlling the position easily from mount.

Smith tries to improve his position but Stackhouse has taken his back! Stackhouse has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Smith tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Stackhouse pushes Smith away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dave Stackhouse!
Dave Stackhouse seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
