PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Louis Lei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Alamar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lei comes into the arena with Closer blaring out of the sound system. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Louis Lei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nate Alamar!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alamar shoots in for a takedown but Lei shows good takedown defense.
Lei misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lei tries to score with a low kick but Alamar moves his leg out of the way.
Alamar checks a leg kick nicely.
Lei missing with a left hand there. Alamar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
No luck for Alamar with that takedown attempt.
Lei lands a nice looking body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alamar shoots for a double leg takedown but Lei sprawls well. He's pushed Alamar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Louis Lei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Alamar.
Lei throws a right and a left that Alamar avoids nicely.
Lei fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alamar has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Lei throws a head kick but Alamar moves out of range.
Lei tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alamar swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Alamar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lei's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Lei working for a triangle but Alamar defends it easily.
Alamar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lei has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alamar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alamar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Alamar trying to control the position from guard on top but Lei is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nate Alamar wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lei throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Nate Alamar has been cut.
Alamar shoots in looking for a takedown but Lei manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alamar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Lei keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lei tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alamar misses with a takedown attempt - Lei sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Alamar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alamar prevents Lei from improving his position.
Lei is not content to let Alamar control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alamar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Louis Lei dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nate Alamar's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lei tries to close the distance and clinch but Alamar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lei misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Alamar blocks the leg kick.
Lei chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Alamar keeps the fight on the outside.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Lei. Alamar shrugs it off though.
Lei looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Alamar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lei sprawls well. Lei wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alamar gets slowly back to his feet.
Lei wants to clinch

and Alamar counters with a single leg into guard. Lei didn't expect that.
Lei pulls Alamar in close to prevent any damage.
Lei looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Alamar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Lei is trying to keep Alamar in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alamar wants to control from the top but Lei keeps moving.

Nate Alamar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lei fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Alamar checks it well.
Alamar shoots in for a double leg but Lei sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lei fails to land with a series of punches.
Lei tries to clinch but Alamar is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lei stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lei wants it to stay on the feet.
Louis Lei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Alamar.
Lei plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Alamar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lei manages to avoid it.
Lei tries to land a front kick but Alamar steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Alamar keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Lei throws a leg kick but Alamar checks it.

Alamar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lei manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alamar manages to get himself to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alamar can't keep his opponent in guard - Lei advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lei tries to pass the half guard into mount. Alamar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Lei is looking to take a break and control but Alamar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Louis Lei dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Nate Alamar's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lei is looking to clinch.
Lei defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alamar.
Alamar checks a low kick from Lei.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alamar circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lei looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Louis Lei is winning the standup battle so far.

Alamar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lei sprawls well initially but Alamar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lei slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Alamar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Alamar is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Lei is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Alamar won't allow Lei to sweep him here.
Lei trying to keep a closed guard but Alamar is proving a slippery customer.
Alamar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Alamar postures up and lands a big shot to Lei's brow.

Lei looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Alamar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lei is keeping the position for now.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lei is pulling down on Alamar's head. It's preventing any offense from Alamar, at least for the moment.
Alamar engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lei misses with a low kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lei gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Alamar avoiding damage as Lei throws knees to the body.
Alamar is trying to drag Lei to the mat but Lei just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
A knee to the head by Lei.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alamar takes an elbow to the forehead.
Lei lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


That has opened up Nate Alamar's cut even more.
Alamar has had enough of the clinch but Lei keeps him there for the moment.
Alamar looking for a takedown.
Louis Lei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Alamar.
Lei pushes off an throws an elbow but Alamar leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Lei lands a nice elbow.
Lei lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


The cut above Nate Alamar's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Lei pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Louis Lei showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lei, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
