PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mao Zedong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zedong comes to the cage accompanied by March Of The Volunteers . There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mao Zedong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Adams!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams tries to clinch up.
Adams with a poor takedown
and Zedong counters with a head kick. That will keep Adams thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Nice takedown defense from Zedong. No joy for Adams on that attempt.
Adams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Zedong circles away.
Mao Zedong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Adams.
Zedong throws a head kick that half lands.
Adams takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Adams crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Zedong - the referee stops the clock and Adams gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Zedong. Adams manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Zedong lands a jab-cross combination.
Adams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zedong avoids it really well and circles away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zedong lands a leg kick that knocks Adams off balance momentarily.
Zedong scores with a head kick. Adams tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Zedong throws a head kick that half lands.
Zedong misses with a head kick.
Zedong lands a nice looking body kick.

Zedong scores with a jab to the jaw.
Zedong fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Zedong throws a shot to the body.
Horrible takedown by Adams or perhaps it was just good defense by Zedong which made him look bad.
Zedong fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Adams looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Zedong connects with a high kick.
Mao Zedong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zedong goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Adams shoots in looking for a takedown but Zedong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zedong connects with a single shot there.
Adams on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Zedong. Zedong obviously looking to wear him down.
Zedong fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Adams has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A head kick from Zedong lands but Adams takes it in his stride.

Adams is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zedong cracks Adams on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Adams falls backwards against the cage. Zedong follows up with more strikes that drop Adams to his knees. Zedong keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Adams! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mao Zedong!
A less than humble Mao Zedong misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
