PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Puckerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes into the arena with I like BEER! Tom T. Hall blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keith Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Noah Puckerman!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A clash of legs there as Stone blocks the low kick.
Stone throws a lazy right hand but Puckerman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Puckerman's waist but Puckerman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stone off to one side.
Noah Puckerman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Puckerman scores with a push kick.
Stone keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Stone throws a looping overhand right but Puckerman ducks down to avoid it.
Puckerman scoring well with a low kick there.
Puckerman moves out of range of the body kick from Stone.
Stone on the wrong end of a nice hook.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Puckerman misses with the combination.
Stone takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Stone looks to land a left hand but Puckerman moved out of range nicely.
Puckerman looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Puckerman missing with a left hand there. Stone was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

A swing and a miss from Puckerman.
Stone misses with a takedown attempt - Puckerman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stone moves out of range of the body kick from Puckerman.
Puckerman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Stone has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Stone lands with a hook. Puckerman tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Stone manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Puckerman on his heels. He'll look to pass Puckerman's guard now, I'm sure.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Stone trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Stone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Puckerman is keeping the position for now.
Puckerman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Puckerman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Puckerman wants to get back to his feet but Stone is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Puckerman pulls Stone in close to prevent any damage.

Stone drops back, looking for a kneebar! Puckerman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Puckerman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Puckerman!
Stone is trying to improve his position.
Stone sneaks back into half guard.
Stone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Puckerman tries to stand but can't do so whilst Stone controls his leg.
Stone is trying to get back to full guard.

Stone has a closed guard, preventing Puckerman from standing up.

Stone is trying to control the position but Puckerman postures up.

Puckerman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Puckerman has managed to get both his arms back between Stone's legs - danger averted.

Puckerman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Puckerman throws a head kick that misses.
Stone swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Stone shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Puckerman is trying to defend but Stone finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Noah Puckerman will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Stone swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Stone fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Puckerman, pushing him back against the cage.
Puckerman lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Puckerman scores with a nice hook to the head.
Puckerman trying to stall but Stone improves his position.
Stone wants to stall.
Puckerman misses with a short punch on the inside.
Puckerman misses with a hook to the ribs.
Puckerman goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Stone wants to stall.

Puckerman breaks the clinch.
Stone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puckerman tries to avoid it but Stone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puckerman to the ground. Puckerman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Stone makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Puckerman takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Stone misses with a body shot.
Stone on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Stone is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Puckerman.
Stone looks to land a left hand but Puckerman moved out of range nicely.
Stone just misses with a punch to the body.
Noah Puckerman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Puckerman throws out a loose jab but Stone uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stone has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Puckerman finds it's way round the side to connect with Stone's head.
Puckerman pivots, looking for a leg kick but Stone is out of range and Puckerman settles back down.
Puckerman misses with a looping right.
Stone misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Puckerman.
Puckerman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stone was well out of range. Poor timing from Puckerman.

Stone throws a poor cross that misses
and Puckerman counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Noah Puckerman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stone misses with a looping right.
Stone misses with a straight left.
Stone takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nice shot lands for Stone.
Nice uppercut there from Puckerman.
Puckerman lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
and Puckerman counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Stone! He's just covering up as Puckerman starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Noah Puckerman!
Noah Puckerman gave a mention to 1337 ANZAC in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
