The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bingham closes the distance and clinches up with Francis, looking for a takedown. Bingham pushes Francis against the cage but Francis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Francis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Francis throws a sloppy head kick and Bingham moves out of range easily.

Francis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bingham is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Francis wants to stand but Bingham has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Bingham is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Francis pulls his head out easily.

Francis is working for a kimura but Bingham is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bingham slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Bingham tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Francis wants to pass the guard but Bingham is keeping the position.
Bingham wants to sweep here but Francis controlling him for the moment.
Bingham is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bingham is adopting a defensive guard.

Bingham throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Francis escapes and throws Bingham's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bingham sneaks back into half guard.
Bingham is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Francis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Francis's back!
Bingham lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Bingham lands punches and elbows.
Bingham controlling well, preventing Francis from escaping the position.
Francis is covering up but some of the strikes from Bingham are getting through and doing damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bingham is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Francis has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Bingham has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Francis taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Bingham doesn't care though - he's delighted!
