The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.

Gomez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gomez avoids it really well and circles away.

Gomez throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gomez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Gomez is controlling the pace.

Gomez is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Gomez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Gomez doesn't defend quickly enough and Silva has managed to lock this one up! Can Gomez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Silva on a fantastic submission victory.
