Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Floppy McPoppins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Doet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Floppy McPoppins had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Floppy McPoppins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Doet!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McPoppins misses with a takedown
and Doet makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Doet lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
McPoppins doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Doet counters with a thumping low kick.

and Doet counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Floppy McPoppins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Doet is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McPoppins has managed to free his arm - good work.
McPoppins won't allow Doet to pass to mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Doet is stalling here. McPoppins is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Doet seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and McPoppins has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

McPoppins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doet keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doet is looking for a triangle here but McPoppins uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Doet wants to improve his position but McPoppins is controlling well.
McPoppins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Doet with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Doet regains full guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McPoppins with a nice head shot there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Doet seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Doet has momentary wrist control but McPoppins slips an elbow through the middle.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Doet holds on and takes a little breather.

Doet has his foot on McPoppins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McPoppins works his way back into a safe position though.

Doet wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and McPoppins is now in half guard.
Doet manages to get to full guard.
McPoppins postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Doet has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes McPoppins off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McPoppins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Doet sprawls well. Doet wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McPoppins gets slowly back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Doet feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McPoppins's calf.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Doet dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McPoppins shoots in looking for a takedown but Doet manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McPoppins's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Floppy McPoppins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McPoppins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Doet paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McPoppins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Doet is fending him off so far but McPoppins persists. Nope, Doet circles away and we're back to standing.

Doet shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Doet is looking for a sweep. McPoppins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Doet is refusing to be controlled, as McPoppins sits in half guard.

Doet is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McPoppins pulls his head out easily.

Doet is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute McPoppins jumps into side control!
Doet manages to get back to half guard.
McPoppins is looking to advance position but Doet won't allow it.
McPoppins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Doet does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Doet makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Doet.

McPoppins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Doet has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McPoppins has managed to get both his arms back between Doet's legs - danger averted.

McPoppins is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Doet up.
Doet's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling McPoppins's hands.
Doet tries to escape but McPoppins has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

A close second round but John Doet will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Doet shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McPoppins sprawls well. McPoppins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Doet gets slowly back to his feet.

McPoppins manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Doet on his heels. He'll look to pass Doet's guard now, I'm sure.

John Doet is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

McPoppins shoots in for a takedown but Doet shows good takedown defense.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Floppy McPoppins.
Well Doet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
