Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butler fails with the takedown.
Butler closes the distance and clinches up with Thomas, looking for a takedown. Butler pushes Thomas against the cage but Thomas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Butler shoots in for a takedown but Thomas shows good takedown defense.
Ryan Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Butler.

and Butler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thomas won't be happy with that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butler postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Thomas looks a forlorn figure.

Butler misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Thomas regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Butler.
Thomas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Butler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Butler looks gassed!
Thomas isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Butler stacks Thomas on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Butler!
Butler is trying to ground and pound but Thomas uses the momentary lack of control by Butler to regain half guard.
Thomas regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Butler.

Thomas is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Butler frees his head nicely. Oh but Thomas has switched to an armbar! Butler is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
