Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Benji Danilison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarez De Ertu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jarez De Ertu is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benji Danilison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jarez De Ertu!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Danilison gets a takedown into half guard.
Danilison seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Danilison wants to lay and pray for a moment but De Ertu keeps working.
Danilison is nestled in close to De Ertu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
De Ertu gets back to full guard.
Danilison might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

De Ertu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Danilison can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
De Ertu is striking off his back. Danilison thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
De Ertu wants to control but Danilison is keeping busy and won't allow it.

De Ertu gets back to full guard.
Danilison trying to control but De Ertu is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Ertu can do anything to dispel that myth.
Danilison lands a couple of digs.
Danilison postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Danilison is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Danilison wants to control from the top but De Ertu keeps moving.

De Ertu wants to stand up but Danilison is controlling him.
De Ertu is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Danilison won't allow De Ertu to get back to his feet.

De Ertu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Danilison is looking to work some ground and pound but De Ertu has wrist control.
Danilison wants to control from the top but De Ertu keeps moving.
Danilison working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of De Ertu's head.
Danilison postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

De Ertu working for a triangle but Danilison defends it easily.
Danilison loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Danilison chips away with some ground and pound.
Danilison throwing strikes from guard but De Ertu blocks nicely.
De Ertu wants to stand but Danilison is controlling the position.
Danilison lands a couple of digs.
Danilison wants to control from the top but De Ertu keeps moving.
Danilison throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Danilison throws a big elbow that misses.
Danilison trying to control but De Ertu is working from the bottom.
Danilison is really struggling to control De Ertu but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Danilison throwing strikes but missing.
Danilison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Ertu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
De Ertu will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Danilison trying to control the position from guard on top but De Ertu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
De Ertu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Danilison working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Danilison postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

De Ertu has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
De Ertu moves in looking to clinch but Danilison pushes him off.

De Ertu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Danilison looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Danilison stops De Ertu from passing to mount.
Danilison regains half guard, as De Ertu was trying to land strikes.
Still in half guard, De Ertu seems content to control.
Danilison moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Danilison is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Danilison throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as De Ertu works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

De Ertu keeping moving, preventing Danilison from controlling successfully.
Danilison controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Danilison has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Danilison landing some decent shots from guard.
De Ertu is pulling down on Danilison's head to control his posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Danilison throws a body kick that misses.
Danilison circles away from the clinch attempt
and Danilison counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

De Ertu dives in and scores a takedown into Danilison's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Danilison looking to hit a scissor sweep but De Ertu is one step ahead there.

Danilison looking for submissions from the bottom but instead De Ertu passes into half guard.
Danilison is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De Ertu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De Ertu's back!

Danilison lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Danilison is working for a rear naked choke. De Ertu is not defending it well and Danilison has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! De Ertu refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of De Ertu's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Benji Danilison!
Our winner, Benji Danilison, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
