The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Komota tries to work over Machdoor's front leg with a kick but Machdoor checks it.
Machdoor chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Komota can pounce on him.
Susumo Komota seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Komota misses with a jab to the body
and Machdoor counters with a three punch combo that has Komota backing up. Komota nods at Machdoor to acknowledge the strikes.
Machdoor throws a right and a left that Komota avoids nicely.
Komota tries to score a power double leg takedown but Machdoor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Komota somewhat.

Komota is stalling here. Machdoor is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Komota seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Machdoor has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Machdoor wants to control the pace but Komota is squirming around nicely.
Machdoor takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Machdoor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Komota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Komota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Machdoor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Komota gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machdoor tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Machdoor is bucking up trying to escape but Komota cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
