Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bill Nye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andrei Karpov!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karpov with a lazy takedown attempt

and Nye counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nye.
Nye's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Nye gets to his feet - Karpov follows without any prompting.
Nye tries to close the distance and clinch up but Karpov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Karpov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Nye gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Nye gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Andrei Karpov has been cut.
Nye using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Nye drags the fight down to the ground.
Karpov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Karpov throwing strikes from guard but Nye blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karpov wants to control from the top but Nye keeps moving.

Nye uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Nye scores a takedown into full mount!
Karpov keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nye controlling the position easily from mount.
Karpov has given up his back here.
Nye keeps control of the position easily here as Karpov tries to buck him off.
I really don't envy Karpov right now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karpov looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karpov trying to control the action but Nye just sinks the hooks in.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
I really don't envy Karpov right now.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Nye controlling the positon.
Karpov just trying to survive but Nye is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Good control from Nye.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nye seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Karpov for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Nye dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Andrei Karpov's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nye has Karpov up against the cage in a clinch.

Nye pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Nye closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Nye breaks from the clinch.
No joy there for Nye, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bill Nye is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nye has taken the fight to the clinch.

Nye has hold of one of Karpov's legs. Karpov is fighting the takedown attempt but Nye gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Karpov looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Karpov keeping full guard, as Nye tries to pass.
Nye sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Karpov has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nye should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Karpov has tightened it up now! Nye should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
