Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Cezar De Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Novak!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Lima with a poor takedown

and Novak counters by moving into the clinch.

Novak breaks the clinch.
De Lima tries for a takedown but Novak circles away easily

and Novak counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in De Lima's guard now.

De Lima manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Novak missing with a left hand there. De Lima was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Novak shoots in and gets a takedown into De Lima's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Novak is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Novak's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Novak must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

De Lima lands a big head kick that sends Novak tumbling to the mat! De Lima takes a step backwards and waves Novak back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Nick Novak has been cut.

De Lima fails with a takedown attempt.
Novak is still on wobbly legs! Can De Lima finish him?

Novak shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches De Lima napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Novak seems to have recovered his senses.

Novak decides to stand back up.
Novak looks gassed!
De Lima shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Novak makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Novak trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
De Lima keeping moving, preventing Novak from controlling successfully.
De Lima wants to stand up but Novak is controlling him.
Novak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Novak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Novak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Lima swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Novak is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

De Lima has his takedown stuffed

and Novak counters with a takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Novak cracks De Lima with a big right hand but De Lima just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Novak should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
De Lima stops Novak from passing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Lima tries to buck Novak off but Novak is having none of it.
De Lima manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Novak makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

De Lima is really struggling to control Novak but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Julio Cezar De Lima has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Novak pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
De Lima fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and De Lima counters with a three punch combo that has Novak backing up. Novak nods at De Lima to acknowledge the strikes.

Novak is landing with some decent strikes but De Lima is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Novak tries to pass the half guard into mount. De Lima knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

and Novak holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Novak ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Novak no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

De Lima drops back looking for a leg! Novak is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Novak manages to kick De Lima off! De Lima jumps back into Novak's guard.
De Lima wants to control from the top but Novak keeps moving.

De Lima is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Novak is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Novak has escaped and now he's on top!

Nick Novak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Novak winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
