De Lucas comes into the arena with Apaga mais não bate blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samuel De Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Greg Venece!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Venece clinches with his opponent.

Venece escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
De Lucas jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Venece misses with a head kick.

De Lucas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Venece has De Lucas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Venece pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending De Lucas tumbling to the mat - Venece dives into De Lucas's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Venece tries to free his leg and advance position but De Lucas is retaining full guard.

De Lucas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
De Lucas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

De Lucas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Samuel De Lucas has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Venece shoots in and bounces De Lucas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

De Lucas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Venece's guard.
De Lucas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Venece is trying to control the position but De Lucas postures up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Lucas forces his way into half guard.
De Lucas slips a nice elbow through Venece's hands, connecting with Venece's forehead.
De Lucas has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Venece is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De Lucas controlling his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
De Lucas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
De Lucas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

De Lucas controlling the position easily from mount.
De Lucas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Venece for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Venece is looking to improve his position but De Lucas isn't that keen on the idea.

De Lucas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

De Lucas looking to isolate an arm here. Venece doesn't see it coming and as De Lucas extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by De Lucas!

In his post fight interview, Samuel De Lucas started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
