Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Susanin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henderson comes into the arena with The End blaring out of the sound system. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Susanin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Susanin shoots in and drives through. Henderson sprawls well.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Susanin enables Henderson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Susanin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Henderson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Henderson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Susanin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Susanin has escaped and now he's on top!

Henderson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Susanin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Susanin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Henderson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Susanin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Henderson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Susanin defends well.
Susanin wants to get up but he can't break Henderson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Susanin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Susanin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Henderson won't allow Susanin to sweep him here.
Susanin controls Henderson momentarily but Henderson frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Henderson drops back looking for a leg! Susanin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Susanin manages to kick Henderson off! Henderson jumps back into Susanin's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Susanin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Susanin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Henderson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Susanin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Henderson has Susanin in his guard.
Susanin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Susanin postures up in Henderson's guard and throws a big left but Henderson blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Susanin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Susanin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Henderson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Henderson tries for a kimura but Susanin is defending well.

Henderson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Susanin is looking to reverse the position.
Ivan Susanin has got the better of the ground game so far.

Henderson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Susanin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Susanin misses with a strike from the bottom.
Susanin wants to control but Henderson postures up.
Susanin is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Henderson off and has taken his back!

Henderson covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Susanin throwing wild punches that miss their target.
Henderson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Susanin's guard. Nice work there by Henderson.

Henderson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Susanin dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Susanin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Henderson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Susanin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Henderson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Susanin defends well.
Susanin is pushing down on Henderson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Henderson is fighting to maintain full guard but Susanin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Susanin passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Susanin lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Susanin controlling the pace for now.
Henderson tries to improve his position but instead Susanin has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Henderson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Susanin working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Henderson is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Susanin has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Henderson taps out!
