Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deacon Griggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griggs comes to the cage accompanied by Church by T-Pain. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deacon Griggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Brown!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown falls off balance throwing a combination

and Griggs counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Griggs thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brown's head.
Brown has his hands clasped together around Griggs's back. He's all about the action.
Brown moves into full guard.
Griggs trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
Brown is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Griggs throwing strikes from guard but Brown blocks nicely.
Brown wants to sweep but no luck.
Griggs wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.
Brown looking to hit a scissor sweep but Griggs is one step ahead there.

Griggs throws an elbow but Brown slips to the side and avoids it well.

Griggs tries for a kimura but Brown is defending well.

Brown takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Griggs goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Brown has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Griggs but great work by Brown.

Brown swings around for an armbar but Griggs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brown's guard.
Brown is trying to keep Griggs in close.
Brown might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Griggs kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Griggs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Brown is pulling down on Griggs's head. It's preventing any offense from Griggs, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tyson Brown was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Brown scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Griggs shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brown defends it nicely.
Griggs lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Griggs throws a right hand that Brown ducks under and follows up with a left that Brown also avoids with ease.
Brown uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Griggs.
Griggs misses with a hook.
A swing and a miss from Griggs.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Brown got a little sloppy there for a moment and Griggs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brown has managed to get both his arms back between Griggs's legs - danger averted.
Brown passes easily into side control. Nice work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griggs keeps working.

Nice defenses there by Brown.

Griggs shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Brown pushes Griggs off looking to stand but Griggs dives back in and keeps control.

Brown has hold of Griggs's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Griggs manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That was a close second round but I would say that Deacon Griggs will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Griggs takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Griggs lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brown circles away quickly and effectively.

Brown gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Deacon Griggs.
Well Griggs has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
