PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anak Monyet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Vandrax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vandrax throws a sloppy head kick
and Monyet counters with a straight right hand.
Monyet throws out a powerful jab.
Vandrax throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vandrax tries for a takedown but Monyet sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Vandrax tries to clinch up.
Vandrax throws a sloppy head kick and Monyet moves out of range easily.

Brandon Vandrax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Monyet has managed to clinch.
Monyet lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Vandrax backwards.
Monyet works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Monyet creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Vandrax's defenses.

Vandrax has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Monyet finds it's way round the side to connect with Vandrax's head.

Vandrax is trying desperately to land a takedown but Monyet is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Vandrax.

Monyet lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Monyet working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Vandrax seems to have recovered his senses.
Monyet is working Vandrax over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Monyet gets to his feet - Vandrax follows without any prompting.

Vandrax shoots in for a takedown but Monyet shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Vandrax tries a head kick but it misses.
Vandrax's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Monyet connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Vandrax scrambles back to his feet.
Monyet fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Vandrax tries to score a power double leg takedown but Monyet sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vandrax somewhat.
Vandrax walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vandrax misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Vandrax doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Monyet tries to bum rush Vandrax with a series of wild strikes but Vandrax uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

OH! Vandrax has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Monyet smells blood and charges in for the finish! Monyet unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Vandrax sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
