Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shizuka Uesugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lynard Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shizuka Uesugi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lynard Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uesugi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Carlson on the side of the head.
Carlson tries to land a front kick but Uesugi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Uesugi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Carlson throws a chopping leg kick but Uesugi manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Good shot there by Uesugi.
Carlson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carlson wants it to stay on the feet.
Uesugi throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Uesugi finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Uesugi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Carlson is able to avoid easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carlson wants to clinch up but Uesugi keeps it at a distance.
Uesugi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carlson as he avoids it easily.

Carlson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Uesugi on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Carlson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Uesugi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Carlson wants to sweep here but Uesugi controlling him for the moment.

Uesugi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carlson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Shizuka Uesugi will probably get the nod.

Carlson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fighters circle momentarily. Uesugi darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Uesugi tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Carlson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Uesugi is out of range and Carlson settles back down.

Uesugi chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Carlson can pounce on him.
Uesugi takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Uesugi shoots in looking for a takedown. Carlson tries to sprawl out of it but Uesugi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carlson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Uesugi closes the distance and clinches up with Carlson, looking for a takedown. Uesugi pushes Carlson against the cage but Carlson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shizuka Uesugi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Uesugi throws a low kick, looking for Carlson's leg but Carlson calmly moves out of range.
Lynard Carlson seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Uesugi misses with a left hand
and Carlson counters with a head kick. That will keep Uesugi thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Carlson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Uesugi.

Uesugi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carlson's waist but Carlson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Uesugi off to one side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
