PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between el Steveo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Napper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Napper is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cross That Line - Rick Ross. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny Napper!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steveo misses with a double jab.

Napper looking to score a takedown here. Steveo is defending well but Napper drives through and ends up in Steveo's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Napper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Napper wants to free his trapped foot but Steveo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Danny Napper has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Steveo throws a looping overhand right but Napper ducks down to avoid it.
Steveo pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Napper back to the cage. Steveo follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Steveo is trying to break the clinch but Napper has him pressed against the cage.
Napper tries to land a knee to the head but Steveo blocks with his arms.
Napper goes for a takedown attempt but Steveo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A big left from Steveo misses.
Steveo lands a head shot.
Napper uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Steveo.
A jab lands there for Steveo.
Nice uppercut there from Steveo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steveo misses with a double jab.
el Steveo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Napper clinches.
Steveo wants to break the clinch but can't.

Steveo being controlled against the cage.
Steveo tries to break the clinch but Napper is controlling the position.

Steveo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Steveo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
el Steveo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steveo looks to land a combination but Napper avoids it well.
Steveo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Napper scores a takedown into full mount!

Napper has control of Steveo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Steveo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Steveo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Steveo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Napper looking to control and managing it successfully.
Napper thowing shots but they're missing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Napper content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Napper fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Steveo to the ground. Napper is now in Steveo's guard.
Napper engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Napper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Steveo is keeping the position for now.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Danny Napper.
Steveo looks to land a right hand but Napper moved out of range.
Napper thows a body shot but no joy.
Napper showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Steveo.
Steveo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Napper shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Napper showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Steveo wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Napper trying to control the pace.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Napper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Steveo!

Steveo is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Napper locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Steveo is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Danny Napper!
