PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wells Dengel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnnie Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dengel might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Satisfaction. Johnnie Walker acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wells Dengel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnnie Walker!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dengel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wells Dengel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walker punishes Dengel's body with a nice straight punch.
Dengel fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Dengel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dengel takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Dengel misses with a leg kick.
Walker throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dengel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Walker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dengel pinned against the cage. Dengel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Walker jabs Dengel to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Walker moves out of range of the body kick from Dengel.
Dengel tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range.
Dengel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dengel takes one on the chin but seems OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walker connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Dengel tried to score with a low kick but Walker checks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dengel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dengel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Walker sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Walker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Dengel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Walker slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Dengel is working Walker over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Walker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Walker throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Walker throws some wild stikes that Dengel manages to avoid easily.
Walker misses with a head shot.
Dengel takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Walker moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dengel has worked his arm free - good work by Dengel!
Dengel managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Walker.
Walker trying to control the action but Dengel is working from the bottom.

Walker tries for a kimura but Dengel is defending well.
Walker tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Dengel is looking to reverse the position.
Dengel regains half guard.

Walker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Walker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Dengel looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Walker throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dengel wants to improve his position but Walker is controlling well.
Walker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Walker is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Walker maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Dengel could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Walker has cracked it and Dengel is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Walker!

An out of breath Johnnie Walker thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
