PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pat McDermot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beast Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rage has chosen I'm a Beast as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Beast Rage was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pat McDermot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Beast Rage!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rage scores with a jab. McDermot acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Rage lands a nice hook to McDermot's body. McDermot takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
McDermot looks to land a right hand but Rage moved out of range.
Rage tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McDermot was well out of range. Poor timing from Rage.

Rage gets the takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
McDermot is not content to let Rage control the position.
McDermot prevents Rage from moving into mount.
Rage taking a break here but McDermot is having none of it and regains half guard.

Rage seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McDermot does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rage is trying to control the action in half guard but McDermot is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

McDermot is in a horrible position here. Rage smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rage thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

McDermot is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Rage misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The referee warns McDermot that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rage can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McDermot is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McDermot is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beast Rage dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McDermot throws a predictable looking body shot
and Rage counters with a nice uppercut.
Rage tries to clinch up but McDermot circles away and keeps his distance.
McDermot misses with a hook.
Rage closes this distance looking for a takedown but McDermot circles away.
McDermot connects with a body shot that sends Rage's belly button to the back.
Rage moves to clinch but McDermot breaks away
and McDermot counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
An inside leg kick lands from McDermot.
McDermot connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rage blocks a leg kick.
McDermot throws a leg kick but Rage sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Rage avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rage just misses with a punch to the body.
Rage thows a left - swing and a miss!

Rage throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McDermot paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McDermot misses with a low kick.
McDermot tries to land a front kick but Rage steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
McDermot scores with the left hand. Rage knows he should have avoided that one.
Rage tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McDermot connects with a body shot.
Rage takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rage throws out a loose jab but McDermot uses good head movement to avoid it.
McDermot looks to throw the jab but Rage is out of range.

McDermot tries to clinch up but Rage circles away and keeps his distance.
McDermot bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rage's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rage misses with a body shot.
Rage moves out of range of the strikes.
McDermot with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
McDermot lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rage circles away quickly and effectively.
McDermot leaves Rage with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pat McDermot is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rage misses with a straight left.
Rage throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McDermot.
McDermot throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McDermot misses with a looping right.
McDermot tries to bum rush Rage with a series of wild strikes but Rage uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Rage wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Beast Rage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A decent looking cross lands there for Rage.
Rage swinging wildly here.
Rage scores with a jab to the jaw.
Decent striking displayed by Rage there.
McDermot fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rage checks it well.
Pat McDermot is winning the standup battle so far.
Rage takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Rage takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
McDermot lands with a shot to the body.
McDermot defending well as Rage loads up on a big left hand.
McDermot throws a hook but Rage blocks it.

Rage needs to keep his hands up - McDermot had a free shot at his head there.


Rage is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McDermot fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rage has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rage is still on wobbly legs! Can McDermot finish him?
Rage is breathing heavily.
McDermot drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Rage's head, knocking him out cold! McDermot is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pat McDermot!
