The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gonzales on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

It looks like Ryan Gonzales has been cut.
Holdren cracks Gonzales with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Holdren throws a body punch but Gonzales moves out of range.
Gonzales takes one on the button.
Gonzales fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Holdren fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Holdren lands a glancing blow to the side of Gonzales's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Holdren. Gonzales does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gonzales needs to keep his hands up - Holdren had a free shot at his head there.
Gonzales walks into a left hand.
Holdren slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Ryan Gonzales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gonzales drives through with a takedown into Holdren's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gonzales can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gonzales scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Gonzales has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gonzales there as he acknowledges the shot.

Gonzales closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Holdren keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Holdren tries to roll over but Gonzales keeps him under control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Holdren is controlling Gonzales's trapped leg to prevent Gonzales from advancing to side control.

Gonzales thows a huge punch but Holdren dodges it nicely.

Holdren wants to control but Gonzales is keeping busy.
Holdren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonzales on the ground.

Gonzales stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Holdren defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gonzales.
Chad Holdren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Gonzales.
A left lands for Holdren.
Gonzales shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Holdren as he jumps to the side.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gonzales shoots in for a double leg but Holdren sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Holdren swings for the body but Gonzales moves out of range.
Holdren cracks a nice hook into Gonzales's ribs.

Gonzales walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Holdren lands a body shot.
Gonzales has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Holdren finds it's way round the side to connect with Gonzales's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Holdren fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gonzales looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gonzales dives in and grabs Holdren's left leg, looking for a takedown. Holdren pushes down on Gonzales's head and hops out.
Holdren punishes Gonzales's body with a nice straight punch.
Holdren lands a glancing blow to the side of Gonzales's head.
Gonzales shoots in but Holdren avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gonzales takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Holdren ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gonzales takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Gonzales is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Holdren grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Gonzales takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Holdren cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
