Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Koscheck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gregor Samsa!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Samsa enables Koscheck to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Samsa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Koscheck not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Samsa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Koscheck defends well.
Koscheck is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Samsa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Samsa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koscheck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Samsa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Koscheck's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Koscheck's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Aaron Koscheck.

Samsa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koscheck defends it easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Koscheck sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

It looks like Aaron Koscheck has been cut.
A punch lands to the side of Koscheck 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Samsa tries to get to full guard but Koscheck has control of the leg.
Samsa tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Koscheck manages to move to mount!

Koscheck gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Koscheck is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Samsa's half guard.

Samsa is bucking up trying to escape but Koscheck cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Samsa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Koscheck's waist but Koscheck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Samsa off to one side.

Koscheck shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Samsa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Koscheck is trying to work for a kimura but Samsa is defending well.

Koscheck is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Samsa is just riding it out for now. Koscheck eventually gives up the hold.

Samsa scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Koscheck manages to mount him!
Samsa is desperately trying to improve his position but Koscheck has a good base and remains in mount.
Koscheck looking to finish Samsa with some ground and pound. This is bad for Samsa!
Koscheck breaks from Samsa's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Samsa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Koscheck stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Samsa scores with a nice body kick.

Koscheck has managed to clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koscheck is trying to trip Samsa. He has hold of a leg but Samsa is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Koscheck persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Samsa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koscheck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Samsa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koscheck doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koscheck manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Samsa throws his legs up looking for a submission but Koscheck uses it to pass to side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Samsa is looking to reverse the position.
Koscheck advances nicely into full mount.
Koscheck lands a big elbow.
Samsa is looking to improve his position but Koscheck isn't that keen on the idea.
Aaron Koscheck overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Koscheck scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Samsa is wriggling around trying to escape.
Koscheck lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


Samsa is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Koscheck lands a big shot to the head and Samsa winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
