Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Maris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lanny Poffo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maris tries to clinch there but Poffo circles away.
Maris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Poffo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Poffo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Maris tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Poffo is in Maris's guard.

Maris wants to get back to his feet but Poffo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maris has momentary wrist control but Poffo slips an elbow through the middle.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Poffo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Poffo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Poffo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Poffo loads up on a big left hand. Maris felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Poffo looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Maris can't hide his disappointment, as Poffo celebrates the victory.
