Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dupree Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Dupree Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Rogers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rogers goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Rogers pushes Owens up against the cage in a clinch.
Rogers wants a takedown.

Rogers breaks from the clinch.
Owens takes a swing at Rogers's ribcage but misses.

Owens tries to keep at a distance but Rogers has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rogers jumps guard but Owens turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Owens prevents the takedown attempt.
Dupree Owens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Rogers.

Owens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Owens avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Owens connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rogers's hands.

and Owens counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Rogers closes the distance and clinches.

Rogers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rogers dives in and grabs Owens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Owens pushes down on Rogers's head and hops out.
Owens lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rogers circles away quickly and effectively.
Owens just misses with a punch to the body.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rogers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Owens's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Owens breaks Rogers's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Owens wants to get up but he can't break Rogers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Owens has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rogers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rogers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Owens is working Rogers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Rogers will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Rogers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Owens sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rogers somewhat.
Owens changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dupree Owens is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Owens counters with a straight right hand.
Owens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rogers counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Owens!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rogers swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Owens is now in Rogers's guard. A big mistake from Rogers there, giving up the dominant position!

That was a close round but I would say that Dupree Owens will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Rogers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Owens's guard.

Owens is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Owens is looking to stand up but Rogers isn't so interested in that idea.
Rogers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Owens swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rogers chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Owens has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rogers is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Owens.

Rogers is looking for a kimura but Owens is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rogers to get the leverage.

Rogers throws some wild stikes that Owens manages to avoid easily.

Rogers goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Owens turns into him and now he's in Rogers's guard.

Rogers has his foot on Owens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Owens works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dupree Owens.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Owens, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
