Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Lipponen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pertti Apila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lipponen comes to the cage accompanied by Rainbow - Man on the Silver Mountain. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apila uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lipponen.
Apila connects with the punch.
A cross from Lipponen lands.

It looks like Pertti Apila has been cut.
Lipponen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lipponen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lipponen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Apila.
Apila throws a push kick but Lipponen slaps the foot to one side.
Apila fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lipponen manages to avoid it.
An inside leg kick from Lipponen misses.
Lipponen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Apila counters with a left and a right that stings Lipponen.
Lipponen scores with a crisp jab that stopped Apila in his tracks.

Lipponen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Apila misses with an uppercut. Lipponen saw that one coming.
Lipponen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lipponen cracks Apila with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Apila blocks the body kick.
Lipponen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lipponen throws a poor cross that misses
and Apila counters with a one-two to the body.
Lipponen falls off balance throwing a combination

and Apila counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Apila misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lipponen.

Apila manages to break the clinch.
Lipponen thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Apila if he has to take too many more of those.
Apila looks gassed!
Apila lands with a kick to the temple. Lipponen shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Lipponen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Apila manages to avoid it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lipponen throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Apila takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Lipponen cracks the inside of Apila's front leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lipponen bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Apila's head.
Lipponen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Apila but Apila pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pekka Lipponen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Lipponen.
Apila misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Apila throws a jab but it's blocked by Lipponen.

Lipponen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lipponen throwing shots but Apila is blocking nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
