PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nike Dallas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vader has chosen Imperial March as his entrance music. Darth Vader will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nike Dallas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Darth Vader!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vader misses with a head kick.
Vader defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dallas.
Dallas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vader tries to avoid it but Dallas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vader to the ground. Vader escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Vader misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vader takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Dallas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Dallas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


It looks like Nike Dallas has been cut.

Dallas gets caught napping as Vader dives in and scores a takedown. Dallas manages to retain guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Vader wants to control from the top but Dallas keeps moving.
Vader trying to stand up but can't free himself from Dallas's guard.
Vader trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Vader wants to pass the guard but Dallas is keeping the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vader is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Vader with a flurry of punches that miss.
Vader trying to control but Dallas is working from the bottom.
Vader trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dallas is on top in guard.

Vader escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dallas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vader wants to get back to his feet but Dallas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Vader is trying to control the position but Dallas postures up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Darth Vader hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Vader thuds a left hand into Dallas's body.
Vader fails to land with a series of punches.

Vader shoots in and bounces Dallas off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dallas wants to sweep but no luck.
Vader throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dallas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Vader missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dallas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Vader looking to pass the guard.
Vader postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Vader pushes down on Dallas's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Vader is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dallas preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Vader seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Vader is trying to work for a kimura but Dallas is defending well.
Vader missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vader looks to land a strike but Dallas avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darth Vader dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nike Dallas's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Vader looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Dallas lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Vader has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Vader and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Vader swats away the attempt to clinch by Dallas.
Vader doesn't manage to clinch there - Dallas circles away.
Vader throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Nice shot lands for Vader.

Dallas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dallas wants to control the pace but Vader is squirming around nicely.
Vader wants to hold on but Dallas pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dallas looking to control and managing it successfully.
Vader really wants to buck Dallas off and get back to his feet.

Dallas goes for an armbar but Vader turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Vader.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Vader has gone for a leg lock! Dallas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Vader's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dallas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Nike Dallas has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Vader scores with a three punch combo!
Vader lands a lovely overhand right.
Vader throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vader lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dallas tries to clinch but Vader moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vader connects with a body shot.
Dallas tries for a takedown but Vader circles away easily
and Vader counters with a nice leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vader scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Vader dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Vader lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Dallas is looking to close the distance but Vader sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Dallas crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Dallas is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Darth Vader!
Darth Vader took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'Wossup, ma niggas?'.
