Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Lennon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Asser Toropainen!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Toropainen both land. Nice combination.


It looks like John Lennon has been cut.

Toropainen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lennon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Toropainen stays in close to Lennon's body and controls the position.
Lennon keeping moving, preventing Toropainen from controlling successfully.
Toropainen throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Toropainen trying to control the position from guard on top but Lennon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Asser Toropainen has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Toropainen scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lennon in his tracks.

Toropainen drops Lennon with a left right combo! Toropainen follows him down to the ground into side control.


Lennon is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Toropainen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lennon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Toropainen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lennon rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Toropainen's guard! Nice work there by Lennon!

Toropainen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lennon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lennon tries to stand but Toropainen is controlling from the bottom.

Lennon wanted to stand there but Toropainen had control of the position.
Lennon postures up.

Toropainen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lennon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Toropainen is working an open guard so Lennon takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Toropainen pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lennon is out of range and Toropainen settles back down.
Toropainen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Toropainen throws a monster overhand right that drops Lennon! Toropainen follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Asser Toropainen!
In his post fight interview, Asser Toropainen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
