The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dillaway lands a nice hook to Gomez's body. Gomez takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A lazy left from Dillaway finds it's target.
Dillaway cracks Gomez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jefferson Dillaway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dillaway keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice takedown defense from Dillaway. No joy for Gomez on that attempt.
Gomez tries to clinch up but Dillaway circles away and keeps his distance.
Gomez fails to land the takedown.

Dillaway uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gomez has time to react.

Gomez tries to close the distance and clinch but Dillaway swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Oh Gomez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gomez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gomez seems to have got his legs back now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franco Gomez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dillaway drops Gomez with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Gomez looks back up at him and smiles so Dillaway waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Dillaway closes the distance and pushes Gomez back into the cage.
Dillaway wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dillaway is trying to push Gomez away but Gomez has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Dillaway cracks Gomez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Gomez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Dillaway finish him?
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Gomez. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
