Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shalako Carlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damein Sheilds!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlin shoots in and bounces Sheilds off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Carlin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sheilds trying to control the position.
Sheilds wants to sweep here but Carlin controlling him for the moment.
Sheilds preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Carlin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sheilds controls Carlin momentarily but Carlin frees himself.
Carlin throwing strikes from guard but Sheilds blocks nicely.

Carlin postures up in Sheilds's guard and throws a big left but Sheilds blocks it.

Carlin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Carlin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Carlin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sheilds should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Carlin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Carlin is looking to work some ground and pound but Sheilds has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carlin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sheilds's head.

Sheilds is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Carlin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sheilds dives on top into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carlin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carlin avoids the attempt from Sheilds to control.
Carlin scoring with strikes but Sheilds is staying in there.


It looks like Damein Sheilds has been cut.
Sheilds is wriggling around trying to escape.

Carlin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sheilds is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sheilds and Carlin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The strikes coming from Carlin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carlin is chipping away with strikes.


That has opened up Damein Sheilds's cut even more.
Carlin throws an elbow but Sheilds slips to the side and avoids it well.

Carlin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sheilds has escaped the position, nice work there.
Carlin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sheilds down.

Carlin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sheilds knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sheilds wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carlin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Carlin lands a strong strike to the head of Sheilds. That's dazed him! Carlin looking to finish here. Sheilds is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Carlin lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shalako Carlin!
Post fight, an emotional Shalako Carlin said 'I would like to thank Malevolent for organizing this event'.
