The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hemerijckx looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Samson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hemerijckx shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Samson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hemerijckx.

Samson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hemerijckx will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Samson gets to his feet. Hemerijckx looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hemerijckx is on top in guard.

Hemerijckx drops back, looking for a kneebar! Samson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Samson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Samson!

Samson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Hemerijckx is trying to escape and Samson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Hemerijckx is forced to tap! Nice work there by Samson! Very nice indeed!
