PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Spray North (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Pacman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pacman has chosen Bebot by Black Eyed Peas as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Spray North!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Manny Pacman!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pacman stuffs the takedown attempt from North. North gets slowly back to his feet.
North fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pacman misses with a wild body shot.
North uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pacman.
North shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spray North. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pacman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but North paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pacman wants to clinch up but North keeps it at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pacman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

North looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pacman!

North is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Pacman has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Pacman!
Pacman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

North had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pacman is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. North Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pacman's back instead.

North is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Pacman has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pacman is in a bad position with North working for a choke. Pacman manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
Pacman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

North escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pacman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pacman won't allow North to sweep him here.
Pacman wants to pass the guard but North is keeping the position.
North trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
North looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pacman is one step ahead there.
North could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Pacman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

North throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
North is breathing heavily.

North looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pacman passes into half guard.
Pacman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with North. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pacman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

North looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Pacman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
North is looking to get back to full guard here but Pacman has managed to pass to side control instead.
Pacman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Spray North will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Pacman fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pacman with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Pacman tries to bum rush North with a series of wild strikes but North uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pacman lands a slapping body shot.
Pacman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pacman tries to clinch but North is having none of it.
Pacman lands with a nice combination. North backs away looking to recover.

North is rocked!

It looks like Spray North has been cut.
A punch combination from Pacman misses.
Oh North is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Spray North is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pacman misses with a double jab.
North fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by North or perhaps it was just good defense by Pacman which made him look bad.
Pacman misses with a two punch combination.
North fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spray North. That's going to take a lot out of him.
North bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Pacman comes at him with an uppercut from hell! North falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! North was out before he hit the floor!
