Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Braylon Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhomber Vernius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Braylon Davis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Braylon Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rhomber Vernius!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vernius bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Vernius trying to control the action but Davis is working from the bottom.
Vernius postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Davis is looking to regain half guard here but Vernius keeps moving and retains side control.
Vernius is putting a hurting on Davis here, landing some big shots from side control.
Davis is looking to reverse the position.
Check out the look on Vernius's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Davis tries to buck Vernius off but Vernius is having none of it.
Davis is being controlled here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Vernius working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Davis is looking to regain half guard here but Vernius keeps moving and retains side control.
Davis gets back to half guard.
Vernius is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Davis is wriggling around trying to escape.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vernius swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Davis is now in Vernius's guard. A big mistake from Vernius there, giving up the dominant position!
Vernius is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis postures up in Vernius's guard and throws a big left but Vernius blocks it.
Davis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Vernius wants to sweep here but Davis controlling him for the moment.

Vernius is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Davis is aware though and is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vernius is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Davis wants to pass the guard but Vernius is keeping the position.

Vernius had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davis defends it easily.

Vernius working for a triangle but Davis defends it easily.
Davis looking to sit in guard and control but Vernius gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vernius sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Davis's guard.

Vernius is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Davis has managed to free his arm - good work.

Vernius is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Davis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vernius.
Vernius is thwarting Davis's attempts to control the position.
Vernius slips a nice elbow through Davis's hands, connecting with Davis's forehead.
Vernius content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Davis is trying to get back to full guard.
Vernius seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Davis actively working from the bottom here.
Davis throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Davis is not content to let Vernius control the position.

Vernius is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Davis sees it coming and defends easily.
Vernius moves into full mount! Davis won't be happy about that!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Vernius has hold of Davis's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Davis manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Vernius working the ground and pound effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rhomber Vernius dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Davis shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Davis is working for a kimura but Vernius is defending it quite comfortably.
Vernius wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but Vernius defends the submission attempt.
Vernius on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Vernius wants to get back to full guard.

Vernius moves into full guard.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Vernius is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vernius manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Vernius can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davis is looking to escape.
Davis working to try and regain half guard.
Davis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Vernius raining down shots from the mount!
Vernius putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Vernius fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vernius is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Davis is surviving well by controlling Vernius's body position as best he can.

Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vernius looking to control and managing it successfully.
Oh Davis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Davis takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Vernius's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rhomber Vernius!
