Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cain Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Donald Duck!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duck is looking to score with low kicks.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Velasquez checks a leg kick.

Velasquez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Velasquez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Velasquez is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Duck can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Duck slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Duck makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Duck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Velasquez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Velasquez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Duck looking for a sweep. Not yet Duck, not yet.
Duck lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Velasquez!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Duck is working for a guillotine from mount but Velasquez frees his head quite easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duck takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duck working for a submission but Velasquez is keeping him at bay.
Duck tries to control but Velasquez wriggling away.
Duck sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Velasquez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Velasquez tries to get out of the position.
Duck trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Duck avoids the attempt from Velasquez to control.

Duck is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Velasquez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Velasquez!
Duck bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Velasquez's guard.
Duck wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving.
Velasquez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Velasquez looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duck is wriggling around trying to escape.
Velasquez lands a heavy elbow.
Velasquez cracks Duck with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Duck tries to lock up and control but Velasquez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasquez breaks from Duck's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Velasquez fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Velasquez lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velasquez working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Velasquez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Duck looks a forlorn figure.
Duck takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Duck is rocked!
A big strike lands for Velasquez! That's really hurt Duck and he's turned his back - Velasquez keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Velasquez jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
