Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jake Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Ekwall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ekwall has chosen Linkin Park--One Step Closer as his entrance music. Wes Ekwall told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roberts showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Ekwall tries to roll over but Roberts keeps him under control.

Roberts wants to control from the top but Ekwall keeps moving.

Roberts throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ekwall tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roberts is in Ekwall's guard.

Ekwall bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Roberts's guard.

Roberts is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roberts is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ekwall has his hands clasped together but Roberts extends an breaks Ekwall's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Roberts.

After the fight, Jake Roberts was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
