Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otto Baan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Otto Baan!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Baan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Baan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ripper's head.

Baan postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ripper to stand up.

Baan moves into the clinch.
Ripper trying to stall but Baan improves his position.

Ripper is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Baan is defending well.
Ripper is trying to force a seperation but Baan has the dominant position.
Baan goes for a takedown attempt but Ripper pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Ripper has managed to clinch.

Baan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Baan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Baan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ripper tries to free his leg and advance position but Baan is retaining full guard.
Ripper wants to control from the top but Baan keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ripper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Baan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ripper has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Baan is proving hard to escape from.

Ripper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Baan has Ripper pulled in close to control his posture.

Baan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Baan has control of Ripper's left arm, preventing Ripper from doing any damage.

Baan wants to stand and escape but Ripper is having none of it.
Ripper wants to control from the top but Baan keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Ripper.
Baan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Ripper gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Baan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Baan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Baan gets to his feet. Ripper looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ripper moves to clinch but Baan breaks away

and Baan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ripper keeping moving, preventing Baan from controlling successfully.
Baan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otto Baan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Baan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ripper to keep the fight standing.

Baan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Baan swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Baan throws a head kick but Ripper moves out of range.

Baan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ripper tries to lock up and control but Baan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Baan content just to control the position here.

The referee warns Ripper that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Ripper is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Baan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Ripper regains half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Baan in particular looking to stall.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Baan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Baan gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Baan stops Ripper from standing up.
Baan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Otto Baan.
Ripper stuffs the takedown.
Baan moves out of range of the body kick.
Ripper moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Baan misses with a two punch combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck for Ripper with that takedown attempt.

Otto Baan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Ripper lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Baan circles away quickly and effectively.
Baan tries a low kick but Ripper avoids it.
Baan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sloppy strikes from Ripper. Those never looked like landing.
Baan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ripper tries to avoid it but Baan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ripper to the ground. Ripper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ripper wants to clinch but Baan slips to the side
and Baan counters with a three punch combo that has Ripper backing up. Ripper nods at Baan to acknowledge the strikes.
Ripper throws a series of punches but Baan moves out of range.
Ripper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ripper misses with an uppercut.

Baan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ripper napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Ripper is not content to let Baan control the position.

Let's hope that Baan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

and Baan counters with a shoot takedown. Ripper fights it but they end up in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Ripper is looking to take this one to the mat.
Ripper managing to block the knees to the body from Baan.
Baan slows down the pace here.
Baan tries to circle away but Ripper has him pinned against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ripper smiles and moves away.
Baan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ripper is fending him off so far but Baan persists. Nope, Ripper circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Otto Baan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Baan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
