The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez tries to clinch up but Zoom circles away and keeps his distance.

Rodriguez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Zoom counters with a three punch combo that has Rodriguez backing up. Rodriguez nods at Zoom to acknowledge the strikes.
Zoom shoots in for a double leg but Rodriguez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Zoom.

Enrique Rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddi Zoom.

Rodriguez wants to land a leg kick but Zoom is out of range.
Rodriguez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Zoom shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Zoom was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Zoom has control of Rodriguez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rodriguez regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Zoom goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rodriguez turns into him and now he's in Zoom's guard.

Zoom pushes Rodriguez off and scrambles back to his feet.

Zoom shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zoom showed some decent athleticism there.

Zoom is working for an americana but Rodriguez has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Zoom was thinking about the submission.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rodriguez wants to control the position but Zoom says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
