Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Asylbek Malybaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Asylbek Malybaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malybaev cracks Hunt with a right hand to the side of the head.


It looks like Mark Hunt has been cut.
Malybaev misses with a kick to the body.
Hunt closes the distance and clinches up with Malybaev, looking for a takedown. Hunt pushes Malybaev against the cage but Malybaev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hunt feints and as Malybaev raises his hands in defense, Hunt changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Malybaev is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hunt is controlling him.
Hunt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hunt stopping the sweep attempt from Malybaev.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt lands a couple of elbows.
Malybaev looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Malybaev is trying to keep Hunt in close.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hunt is stalling in the full guard.
Malybaev could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Malybaev wants to stand but Hunt is controlling the position.
Hunt advances to half guard.
Malybaev wants to get back to full guard.
Hunt tries to pass the half guard into mount. Malybaev knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hunt decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Malybaev fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hunt is defended easily by Malybaev.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunt slaps away a takedown attempt from Malybaev, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hunt swings for the body but Malybaev moves out of range.
Malybaev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hunt defends it nicely.

Malybaev tries to keep at a distance but Hunt has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hunt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Malybaev instigates a clinch.

Hunt misses with an elbow strike.
Hunt is looking for a takedown.
Asylbek Malybaev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Hunt.
Hunt gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Malybaev.
Hunt jumps guard but Malybaev stands there with Hunt around his waist. Hunt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Malybaev's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Malybaev is pushing Hunt up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Hunt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hunt moves out of range of the body kick from Malybaev.

Malybaev throws a sloppy head kick and Hunt moves out of range easily.

Hunt rushes Malybaev and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hunt drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Malybaev gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hunt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Malybaev shoots in but Hunt avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hunt throws a head kick but Malybaev moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Malybaev shoots in for a takedown but Hunt shows good takedown defense.
Malybaev tries to clinch but Hunt is having none of it.
Malybaev tries a head kick but it misses.
Malybaev falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hunt counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hunt dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hunt tries a head kick but it misses.

Hunt has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hunt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hunt throws a sloppy head kick and Malybaev moves out of range easily.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hunt. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Malybaev gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hunt stopping the sweep attempt from Malybaev.

Hunt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Malybaev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hunt has managed to get both his arms back between Malybaev's legs - danger averted.
Hunt lands a couple of elbows.

Hunt with a nice head shot there.

Malybaev is looking for a triangle here but Hunt uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Hunt advances to full mount.
Hunt punishing his opponent with strikes.

Hunt jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Malybaev is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Malybaev and Hunt has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hunt is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Malybaev is trying to control Hunt's posture but Hunt avoids it.
Hunt working the ground and pound.
Hunt trying to control the position but Malybaev is working away.
Malybaev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Malybaev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hunt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hunt wants to control but Malybaev is keeping him busy.
Malybaev regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunt is controlling the pace.
Hunt thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Malybaev's head.
Malybaev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hunt is working away from the top position though.

Hunt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Malybaev trying to hold on to Hunt's head to control him but Hunt postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunt wants to take a breather but Malybaev is having none of it.
Hunt slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Malybaev missing with punches from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hunt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hunt shoots in looking for a takedown. Malybaev tries to sprawl out of it but Hunt keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Malybaev manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hunt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hunt successfully pulls guard.

Malybaev decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Malybaev throws a series of punches but Hunt avoids them all with ease.
Hunt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Malybaev swivels and escapes.
Malybaev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hunt counters by moving into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Hunt manages to break the clinch.
Hunt looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Malybaev scores with a hook.

Malybaev lands a left and a right that send Hunt crashing to the mat, dazed. Malybaev thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Hunt is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Malybaev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hunt is still on wobbly legs! Can Malybaev finish him?
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Asylbek Malybaev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Malybaev is looking to clinch.

Malybaev lands a huge takedown. Hunt is out but the ref is slow to react and Malybaev lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Hunt lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
