Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Amongero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zechs Merquise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merquise is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Riding the Fourth Wave. Roberto Amongero has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merquise closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Merquise throws a shot from downtown. Amongero moves away and avoids it.
Amongero misses with a wild combination.

Merquise has closed the distance and engaged Amongero in a clinch.
Merquise lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Merquise scores with a nice short uppercut.
Amongero blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Merquise.
Merquise misses with the head strike.
Merquise wants to take the fight to the mat but Amongero manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Merquise stalling.
Amongero is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Merquise is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Amongero is trying to force a seperation but Merquise has the dominant position.
Merquise unloads a knee to the mid-section. Amongero lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Amongero avoids a wild elbow strike from Merquise.
Merquise lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Amongero tries to break free but Merquise pushes him back against the cage.
Amongero can't break the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Amongero's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Merquise working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Merquise has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Amongero is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Roberto Amongero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zechs Merquise.
Merquise makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Amongero wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Merquise has him pressed against the cage.
Amongero is looking to break free of the clinch but Merquise has double underhooks.
Merquise tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Merquise throws an elbow but misses.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Merquise.
Merquise is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Amongero is defending well for now.
Amongero gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Merquise.
Amongero wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Merquise has him pressed against the cage.
Merquise stalling in the clinch.

Nice body punch from Merquise - that landed with a thud.
Amongero has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Amongero is fighting off a takedown attempt but Merquise is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Amongero to the mat. Amongero regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Merquise trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Merquise throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amongero wants to stand up but Merquise is controlling him.
Merquise stands up over Amongero, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Merquise slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Merquise is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Amongero knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Merquise prevents Amongero from escaping the position.

Merquise tries for a kimura but Amongero is defending well.
Amongero pushes Merquise away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Merquise gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Merquise scores with a couple of short elbows.
Merquise wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amongero keeps working.
Merquise in side control, throwing shots but Amongero defends.
Amongero defending against the ground and pound.

Amongero throws Merquise to one side and escapes!
Amongero scores with a jab. Merquise acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Merquise throws a series of punches but Amongero moves out of range.
Amongero lands a nice shot that snaps Merquise's head back.
Amongero cracks Merquise with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Merquise throws a sloppy body shot
and Amongero counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Merquise is rocked!

It looks like Zechs Merquise has been cut.
Amongero sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Merquise's defenses. It connects perfectly with Merquise's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Roberto Amongero decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
