PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCarthy comes to the cage accompanied by Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas. Wallace is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 50 Cent - Laughing Straight To The Bank. James Wallace is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan McCarthy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, James Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McCarthy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wallace sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McCarthy somewhat.
McCarthy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wallace throws a body kick that misses.
Wallace throws a half hearted mid kick.
McCarthy fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Wallace is out of range.
McCarthy fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wallace throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McCarthy on the side of the head.


It looks like Ryan McCarthy has been cut.
McCarthy misses with a series of wild punches.
McCarthy tries to clinch but Wallace is having none of it.
McCarthy falls off balance throwing a combination
and Wallace counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
McCarthy takes one to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wallace pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McCarthy misses the jab.

McCarthy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wallace did well to prevent McCarthy getting side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCarthy wants to stand up but Wallace is controlling the position.

McCarthy stands up from half guard.
McCarthy is breathing heavily.
Wallace swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wallace moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wallace connects with a crisp jab.

McCarthy moves into the clinch.
Wallace stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wallace has McCarthy pressed against the cage, preventing McCarthy from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Wallace lands an elbow inside.


Ryan McCarthy's cut is getting worse.

Wallace's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McCarthy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wallace but Wallace pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan McCarthy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCarthy shoots for a takedown but Wallace saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wallace lands with a right hand.
Wallace blocks a head kick by McCarthy.
McCarthy scores with a nice body kick.
Wallace dances in with a quick combination. McCarthy is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Wallace snaps McCarthy's head back. McCarthy stumbles backwards against the cage. Wallace steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with McCarthy's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. McCarthy just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). James Wallace!
After winning the bout, James Wallace thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
