The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Koskinen wants to get back to his feet.
Koskinen is looking to improve his position.
James is trying to control. Koskinen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
James content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Koskinen wants to improve his position but James is controlling well.
James thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Koskinen's head.
Koskinen is controlling James's position as best he can from this difficult position.
James is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jessie James wasn't active enough on the ground.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Koskinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Koskinen misses with a head kick.
Koskinen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Koskinen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Koskinen connects with a single shot there.

James shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Koskinen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

James stands up and waves to Koskinen to follow him.
Koskinen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Koskinen throws an off balance right hand

and James counters with a shoot takedown. Koskinen fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Koskinen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
James engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koskinen looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.
James is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jessie James.
Koskinen throws a low kick, looking for James's leg but James calmly moves out of range.
Koskinen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Koskinen.

James scores with a takedown into Koskinen's guard.
Koskinen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James wants to control from the top but Koskinen keeps moving.
James postures up.
Koskinen is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea.
James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
James moves forwards but Koskinen connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Koskinen scores with a jab to the jaw.
Koskinen is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
A jab from Koskinen finds it's way through James's defenses.
Koskinen thows a body shot but no joy.
A leg kick checked by James.
Koskinen throws an overhand right that lands on James's shoulder, as James tries to avoid the shot.
Koskinen throws the kick towards the body but James avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Koskinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

James closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - James lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koskinen wants to stand up but James is controlling him.
James looking to sit in guard and control but Koskinen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Koskinen trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Koskinen is fighting to break James's control of his arms but James is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

James working for a triangle but Koskinen defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jessie James dominated that round.
That's time! Koskinen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


James on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Koskinen. James shrugs it off though.
Koskinen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Koskinen finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Koskinen tries a low kick but James avoids it.
Pietari Koskinen is winning the standup battle so far.
Koskinen throws a series of punches but James moves out of range.
Koskinen throws a chopping leg kick but James manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Koskinen thows a body shot but no joy.
Koskinen connects with an inside leg kick.
Koskinen lands a nice hook to James's body. James takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Koskinen moves into the clinch successfully.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Koskinen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Koskinen on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Koskinen manages to break the clinch.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Koskinen sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jessie James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Koskinen throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on James's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Koskinen dives in looking to finish as James flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Koskinen's strikes! Koskinen is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! James's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but James was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
