Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Urie Sergeyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urie Sergeyev has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Urie Sergeyev!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruce Banner!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sergeyev tries to clinch but Banner moves out of range.
Banner throws a looping overhand right but Sergeyev ducks down to avoid it.
Sergeyev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Banner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sergeyev somewhat.
Banner feints a jab promting Sergeyev to slip. Banner then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sergeyev slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Banner leaves Sergeyev with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sergeyev closes the distance and clinches up with Banner, looking for a takedown. Sergeyev pushes Banner against the cage but Banner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Urie Sergeyev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sergeyev on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
A cross from Banner lands.

Sergeyev gets the takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Sergeyev decides to stand back up. Sergeyev steps back and let's Banner get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Banner lands a nice hook to Sergeyev's body. Sergeyev takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Banner connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sergeyev's hands.

Banner gets caught napping as Sergeyev dives in and scores a takedown. Banner manages to retain guard.
Banner is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Banner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Banner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Banner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sergeyev manages to pass to side control.
Sergeyev is keen to just control but Banner is a slippery customer.

Sergeyev decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Banner. Sergeyev does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sergeyev on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Banner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sergeyev misses with the combination.
Sergeyev's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Banner connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sergeyev scrambles back to his feet.
Sergeyev is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Banner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Banner wants it to stay on the feet.
Banner throws a shot from downtown. Sergeyev moves away and avoids it.
Sergeyev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sergeyev fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Banner avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sergeyev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banner is fending him off so far but Sergeyev persists. Nope, Banner circles away and we're back to standing.
Sergeyev shoots in for a double leg but Banner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sergeyev avoids the body shot from Banner.
Banner connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Sergeyev throws a sloppy head kick and Banner moves out of range easily.
Banner misses with a double jab

and Sergeyev counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Banner's guard now.
Banner wants to stand and escape but Sergeyev is having none of it.

Sergeyev stands and steps away. Banner gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Sergeyev is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Banner's half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sergeyev moves into full mount! Banner won't be happy about that!
Sergeyev controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Banner is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Urie Sergeyev dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sergeyev fails to land the takedown.
Sergeyev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banner tries to avoid it but Sergeyev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banner to the ground. Banner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sergeyev is looking to clinch but Banner is avoiding it.
Sergeyev swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Banner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sergeyev.

Banner pushes Sergeyev off looking to stand but Sergeyev dives back in and keeps control.
Banner is looking for a sweep. Sergeyev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sergeyev throwing shots but Banner is blocking nicely.

Sergeyev is trying to work for a kimura but Banner is defending well.

Sergeyev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Banner is just riding it out for now. Sergeyev eventually gives up the hold.
Sergeyev is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Sergeyev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Banner is trying desperately to improve position.
Banner tries to hold on but Sergeyev pushes him away.
Sergeyev lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Sergeyev stands up from mount. Strange move.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sergeyev tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Banner was well out of range. Poor timing from Sergeyev.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sergeyev dodges the punch combination from Banner.
Banner throws a right hand that Sergeyev ducks under and follows up with a left that Sergeyev also avoids with ease.
Sergeyev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Banner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sergeyev somewhat.
Banner misses with a straight right.
Banner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sergeyev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banner swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Banner connects with a body shot.
Bruce Banner seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sergeyev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Banner.

Sergeyev is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Banner's half guard.
Banner is breathing heavily.
Sergeyev works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sergeyev is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Sergeyev extends the arm and Banner is forced to tap!

A very excited looking Urie Sergeyev rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
