The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irvine has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Irvine defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Andrews.
Irvine takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
BJ Andrews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Irvine feints and as Andrews raises his hands in defense, Irvine changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Andrews got a little sloppy there for a moment and Irvine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Andrews has managed to get both his arms back between Irvine's legs - danger averted.
