Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcello Monteiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Gauge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monteiro comes to the cage accompanied by DreamWorld by Ralek Gracie. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gauge stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nice takedown defense from Gauge. No joy for Monteiro on that attempt.
Gauge lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Monteiro circles away quickly and effectively.
A combination from Gauge does no damage.
Monteiro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Monteiro. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Monteiro might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Monteiro wants to pass the guard but Gauge is keeping the position.

Monteiro looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gauge is desperately trying to improve his position but Monteiro has a good base and remains in mount.

Monteiro lands a heavy elbow.

Monteiro working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Gauge turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Monteiro off and cradles Gauge's limp body as Monteiro celebrates with his corner.
